Hawaii Marathons
There are various marathons taking place throughout the year in Hawaii. The Honolulu Marathon takes place every December and runs through Honolulu, Waikiki and over Diamond Head to finish in Kapiolani Park, Maui Marathon take place every March and runs from Kahalui to finish in Kanapali Beach, Kona Marathon Start and Finish at the Keauhou Beach Resort just south of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. The course follows parts of the run portion of the famous IRONMAN Triathlon. Big Island International MarathonThis certified, scenic course follows "the coast of old Hawaii" along the Pacific Ocean, past exotic waterfalls, over narrow bridges and lava beaches. Hilo is located in one of the cooler, more lush parts of the Big Island. The Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon begin in Poipu, the sunny southern end of the island and run the firstĀ 11 miles together. The courses follow offers magnificent views of the island's picturesque beaches, rugged volcanic peaks, and green tropical rain forests. As dawn breaks, runners will experience lush green vistas as they approach the shade of the century old Tunnel of Trees the course also offers spectacular ocean views for the last few miles.
Surfing
Triple Crown of Surfing takes place on the North Shore of Oahu at Haleiwa Beach Park, Sunset Beach, and Banzai Pipeline. This is a excellent event to watch.
Buffalo Surf Contest at Makaha Beach is very enjoyable to watch. They have all types of categories from over 250 lbs based on several cases of beer on one side of the scale and the surfer on the other side of the scale. The wave breaks close to the shore so viewing the contest is easy. The concept of the event is all about fun. Here is a link to a Buffalo Surf Contest article.
